In this research project, I deconstructed Heck’s Iconographic Encyclopedia to explore the concept of "The Living Church". I reimagined traditional sacred architecture as a literal living, breathing being by piecing together 19th-century anatomical and organic illustrations. Each botanical and anatomical detail was carefully selected to correspond with a specific Bible verse, challenging viewers to reconsider their understanding of sacred space and the dynamic nature of faith communities. By finding meaningful connections between elements, I transformed a historic pictorial dictionary into a modern visual narrative.
